Overview

Who is GeoStabilization International (GSI)

GeoStabilization International (GSI) is the industry leader in geotechnical engineering and construction, specializing in emergency landslide repair, slope stabilization, rockfall mitigation, and critical infrastructure resilience. Our mission is simple: protect communities and infrastructure through innovation, speed, and technical excellence. We are growing rapidly and seeking engineering interns who want more than a summer job—this program is designed to develop future leaders who can progress into full-time engineering roles at GSI.

The Opportunity

As a Field Engineering Intern, you will gain hands-on, practical experience working alongside our design engineers, project managers, and field crews. Each intern is paired with both a manager and mentor for daily guidance, technical development, and career support. This is not a shadowing internship—you will be expected to take ownership of a capstone project, develop solutions, and present your findings directly to company leadership at the end of the program. It’s an opportunity to gain field experience, test your skills, accelerate your growth, and showcase your potential to launch a career with GSI.

Why Join GSI?

  • Paid internship with direct mentorship from industry-leading engineers and project managers.
  • Lodging and transportation are provided for out-of-state interns.
  • Networking opportunities across a nationwide engineering and operations team.
  • Exposure to GSI’s fast-paced, mission-driven culture, built on innovation, extreme ownership, and teamwork.
  • End-of-program presentation to leadership, a chance to showcase your ideas and impact.
  • Clear pathway to full-time employment upon graduation for high-performing interns.
  • Fun, team-oriented environment with company events and perks throughout the summer.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of your assigned Capstone Project and present results to company leadership.
  • Collect, analyze, and process field data to support engineering solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with senior engineers and project managers on active projects by:
    • Communicating project progress to senior management and other stakeholders.
    • Ensure that projects are completed to the highest quality standards and in compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Learn and apply industry-standard software and tools used in geotechnical design and construction.
  • Gain exposure to both office and field environments, understanding the end-to-end project lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Current student pursuing a degree in Civil, Structural, Geological, Geotechnical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering (related fields welcome).
  • Strong preference for students within 12 months of graduation (undergraduate or graduate) as of Summer 2026.
  • GPA of at least 3.0 (preferred 3.5+).
  • Grit, resilience, and curiosity—willingness to tackle complex problems in dynamic field conditions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with evidence of leadership potential.
  • Adaptability and the ability to learn quickly under pressure.
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout the duration of the internship, across all 50 US States.
