Overview

As the Guardrail Services Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing all aspects of the company's operations related to guardrail construction projects. You will be responsible for leading a team of professionals, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety. The position will be responsible for profitable growth of the dispatch center located in Boise, ID by adding services (i.e. signs, fence road striping, etc.), increasing geographic reach, and obtaining new clients.  Your strategic vision, leadership abilities, and construction industry expertise will be essential in driving the company's growth and success.

RAILCO LLC specializes in metal guardrail installation including terminal installation, bridge rail installation, bridge rail retrofit, cable barrier, permanent attenuator installs and temporary concrete barrier setting and removal. Although starting our business serving the Idaho transportation construction industry, we have since grown our business to include eastern Oregon, western Wyoming, northern Utah and northern Nevada. We look forward to continued growth and expanding territories throughout the coming years.

Responsibilities

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve company goals and objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for business expansion and growth in the guardrail construction industry.
  • Analyze market trends and competitor activities to stay ahead in the market.

Project Management:

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of guardrail construction projects.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement strategies to mitigate them.

Estimating:

  • Analyze project blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services.
  • Utilize estimating software and historical data to quantify project requirements and calculate costs.
  • Prepare comprehensive bid proposals in response to invitations to tender or requests for proposals (RFPs).
  • Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and subcontractors to secure favorable pricing and terms.
  • Assess project risks and uncertainties that may impact cost estimates, such as market fluctuations, regulatory changes, or unforeseen site conditions.

Financial Management:

  • Manage the company's financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure projects are profitable and meet financial targets.
  • Review and approve project budgets, expenses, and invoices.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead, motivate, and inspire a team of construction professionals, including project managers, engineers, supervisors, and field staff.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to team members to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment conducive to productivity and growth.

Quality and Safety:

  • Uphold the highest standards of quality and safety in all construction activities.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Implement measures to promote a culture of safety and prevent accidents or injuries on job sites.

Client Relations:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  • Address client concerns or issues promptly and effectively to ensure satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Identify opportunities to expand the company's client base and secure new contracts.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify areas for process improvement and operational efficiency within the company.
  • Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance productivity and profitability.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and development among team members.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within the construction industry, with a focus on guardrail construction or related infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction principles, techniques, and practices.
  • Excellent project management and estimating skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage resources, and meet deadlines.
  • Solid understanding of financial management, budgeting, and cost control.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Certification in project management (PMP) and/or construction safety (OSHA) is a plus.
