What You Will Do

As an Construction Management Intern working for GSI, there is no typical day. You will not be working from behind a desk. You will be in the field getting hands on experience building GSI’s world class geohazard designs! This is hard work. This is gritty work. You will be working and traveling with our Geohazard Mitigation Technicians and at the end of the summer you will understand how the engineering principles you are learning in the classroom play out in the real world. The purpose of our internship program is to prepare you for a full-time career position with GSI. Therefore, in addition to the hands-on construction experience, you will also work with our Field Engineers assisting them with engineering, testing, and project management duties. Responsibilities

 

How You Will Make a Difference

  • Perform various manual labor assignments as directed by the Site Superintendent
  • Move materials on a construction site
  • Mix, spray, run hoses, and operate shotcrete or grouting pumps
  • Reading and determining measurements
  • Maintain a clean and organized construction site
  • Assist Field Engineers with geotechnical testing, writing geotechnical reports, various project management duties such as ordering materials and equipment for the project you are assigned to, and any other duties needed to make the project a success
  • Follow all GSI Safety regulations

Qualifications

What You Need to Bring

  • Currently enrolled in a Civil/Geological Engineering program OR a Construction Management program with an accredited university. We also invite active members of the military who are eligible for the SkillBridge Program.
  • Expected graduation of Winter 2024 or Summer 2025. For service members, they should be ending their active service within twelve months of summer 2024. 
  • The internship is expected to last nine weeks. 
  • You must have the flexibility to travel extensively for the duration of the internship.
